Cashelshanaghan NS is a small two-teacher school under the patronage of the Presbytery of Derry & Donegal. Our small student to teacher ratio allows for a very child-centred approach that strives to both challenge and encourage its pupils and instil a lifelong love of learning.

Green Schools
In or school, we recognise the need to be environmentally friendly. We make great efforts to recycle paper, reduce paper and plastic use and save water and electricity where possible.

Peace 4
We participate in the Peace IV Project for primary and post-primary schools in Northern Ireland and the Border Counties of Ireland. Its focus is on schools providing shared education opportunities to their children and young people.

Active Schools
The pupils love participating in PE and any new venture in sports. Over the next 6 weeks, the Senior pupils will attend swimming lessons in the Aura and our Junior pupils will go to gymnastics in Citadel.

Classes We Offer
Our school is involved in many activities throughout the year such as swimming, gymnastics, sports, music, learning an instrument, drama and Paired Reading Programme.
The classroom is an airy, spacious room welcoming all students and making them feel comfortable to help them build a foundation for positive relationships with their peers.
Aistear is a curriculum framework for children from birth to 6yrs of age. In addition to the primary school curriculum, it is implemented in the junior classroom.
The senior classroom is an inclusive, modern, well-equipped room with all the tools needed to foster and encourage learning, helping students work to succeed and give their best in whatever they do, and promotes happiness, love and acceptance throughout the learning process.
