Always Follow Our Prevention Guidelines

Prevent The Spread of Covid-19

In the light of the current situation regarding Covid-19, it is essential that students and staff adhere to the rules and guidelines in place in order to prevent the spread of the infection and keep all our families safe. These rules and guidelines have been updated in school policy and should any further amendments be made, the school will inform students, parents and staff accordingly. Staff will explain the rules to the students and remind them regularly as well as display signage with appropriate information. Remember, the best protection from Covid-19 is prevention.

In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 we must know and be able to recognise the symptoms. These are:

  • High temperature of 38C or above
  • Coughing
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Loss of smell, taste or distortion of taste

If a student displays ANY of these symptoms or if a family member has tested positive or is awaiting test results for coronavirus they should NOT attend school and should follow HSE guidelines on self isolation and phone your GP. Pupils must follow school rules regarding:

Hand Hygiene

Students and staff will wash hands or use hand sanitizer provided:

  • On arrival at school
  • Before eating or drinking
  • After using the toilet
  • After outdoor playtime
  • When hands are physically dirty
  • After coughing or sneezing

Respiratory Etiquette

Students and staff will practice good respiratory hygiene by following the ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it’ slogan:

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth as much as possible, wash or sanitise hands if you do
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue or into elbow,
  • Bin tissue straight away
  • Wash hands or sanitise straight away

Equipment Use

Children will keep their own belongings and not share. They will have own headphones for use with tablets and a well stocked pencil case with items clearly labelled kept at school. Any school equipment, such as readers, tablets and sports equipment that are shared will be sanitised after each use.

Social Distancing

Students in Junior Room will not be expected to social distance however they will be encouraged to be aware of other pupils’ personal space while within their pods.

Students in the Senior Room will sit 1-2 metres apart and practice social distancing while working within their pods. Student bubbles will have staggered breaks and separate doorways to enter and exit their classrooms in order to minimise contact with other bubbles.

**It is important that if a student becomes unwell that the school be informed straight away.
Following these school rules is vital to ensure the safety of all at school. Any student found to be in breach of these rules will be dealt with in accordance with the school policy and rules.
